Artist Statement
In my journey as an artist, I strive to merge influences from history, pop culture, and abstract expression. I create vibrant canvases that bring together a mix of my influences and colors. Drawing inspiration from the urban pulse, I capture its essence using vivid colors and abstract strokes, while also infusing it with nostalgia and a sense of history.
I have a deep appreciation for the impact of pop culture and explore its intersection with individual experiences. Through my artwork, I design a visual language that resonates with the human experience.
Amidst the chaos of modern-day life, I find comfort in abstraction, as it has the power to evoke emotions through form and color. My art connects the past with the present, the real with the dreamy, inviting viewers on a journey of new perspectives on culture, one painting at a time.
My Story
Hugh Dauerty is an accomplished artist and graphic designer in Oxford, Connecticut. With an extensive background in manufacturing, he recognized the need to pursue a more fulfilling career path and reignited his passion for art, beginning to paint again in early 2018. Since then, he has produced exceptional artwork and participated in art festivals and shows throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic States.
Hugh's exceptional artistic skills and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous accolades, including Best in Show at the Milford Art Council Pop Art & Culture Experience and Best in Show at the Milford Art Council Member Show. In the fall of 2019, Hugh enrolled in the Graphic Design Program at Bellevue University to further develop his skills and knowledge. Throughout his academic journey, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, consistently producing outstanding design solutions that have been applauded by his peers and instructors alike. He is expected to earn his Bachelor's Degree in the fall of 2023.
Hugh's exceptional artistic talent has not gone unnoticed. He was recently selected by Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to be featured as their pop-up artist in their pop-up studio for the Bridgeport Art Trail, a testament to his outstanding artistic abilities and achievements. With a wealth of experience and art and graphic design expertise, Hugh is poised to succeed in his future endeavors.
After completing his degree, Hugh plans to freelance as a designer and artist. He utilizes his skills and experience to create engaging designs and captivating artwork that inspires and delights audiences. His exceptional artistic skills, dedication, and commitment to excellence will undoubtedly lead him to success in his future pursuits.
